I have to say I was suitably impressed by this stunning place. Niagara Falls consists of three waterfalls on the border of Ontario and New York State called Horseshoe Falls, American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls, and apparently has the highest flow rate of anywhere in the world. Driving from Toronto on a Friday afternoon we arrived to discover that due to the extreme cold weather we had been experiencing the falls were still trying to recover! Areas were frozen due to the polar vortex event that occurred in early January causing large amounts of snowfall and unprecedented low temperatures.
We stayed for a couple of photos then went to check out the cutest little town Niagara on the Lake, then returned for the fireworks at 9pm. Unfortunately my tripod decided to break on this day meaning that any long exposures I wanted to do were almost impossible. I managed a couple resting the camera on the barrier. Worst day for a tripod to break I can tell you! The following photos are from mid January 2014.
