March, 2016:

Cold, wet, and utterly gorgeous.

After a long drive from London we finally arrived at Skye in the Scottish Highlands for the Easter weekend. A good base is in Portree, a picturesque town with pubs, restaurants and many accommodation options.

Best photo spots:

We didn’t have time to hike up to the Old Man of Storr but this would be a great start to the day. After that, continue driving up to Kilt Rock and Mealt Falls before heading through the Quiraing for amazing views. On your way around just south of Uig is a little turnoff which is not sign posted. Continue along this road and you will come to the delightful Fairy Glen. Definitely worth a look.

Other spots to include on your trip are Talisker Beach a 20 minute walk from the car park, (and the distillery if you like a good whisky) and the amazing Fairy Pools. It’s gets busy to get there early. Don’t make the same mistake I did though… The fairy pools are very small and it’s all about perspective! Bring wellies and get in the water for the best shots. Don’t hike up to the mountains thinking there must be something bigger and better waiting for you. Have fun!
